National Heritage Week 2017 will take place from 19-27 August and we’re making 2017 the year we help more people learn about and enjoy Ireland’s nature.

From urban wildlife tours to foraging walks to building bee hotels, Heritage Week 2017 is all about being active, having fun and getting involved with our natural heritage. Find out more about the links between Ireland’s nature, history, culture and heritage at tours, walks, talks, exhibitions, outdoor activities and more.

National Heritage Week is coordinated by The Heritage Council and its aim is to build awareness and education about our heritage thereby encouraging its conservation and preservation.

The Heritage Council assumed the role of coordinator of National Heritage Week from the Department of the Environment, Heritage & Local Government in 2005. Since then the week has grown into a highly successful programme of 2,300 events.
