Giornate Europee del Patrimonio 2018: L'Arte di condividere

22nd-23rd September 2018: The Art of Sharing

Every year, the Italian Ministry for cultural heritage and activities takes part in the European Heritage Days, a project promoted since 1991 by the European Council and by the European Commission, with the aim of improving and encouraging dialogue and exchange between European countries, within a cultural sphere. This is an exceptionally important opportunity to reiterate the central role of culture in the dynamics of Italian society.

The project is traditionally adhered to by numerous non-state cultural places, including civic museums, municipalities, galleries, foundations and private associations, building up an extremely varied cultural offering, with a calendar that often reaches almost a thousand events.

A remarkable choral event that gives a good idea of the wealth and the “widespread” dimension of the national cultural heritage: from that of the famous museums to less well-known levels of excellence which almost every town can boast and must develop.

This is why the Ministry has always taken opportunities like that provided by the European Heritage Days to promote the projects drawn up by the single institutions and to keep strengthening the link with the respective territories and with their cultural identities.

Following the success of the last editions (#GEP2015 www.beniculturali.it/GEP2015 – #GEP2016 www.beniculturali.it/GEP2016 - #GEP2017 www.beniculturali.it/GEP2017), which have far outstripped every expectation of dedicated events and audience participation, the European Heritage Days 2018 will be celebrated in Italy, on 22nd and 23rd September, with the theme "L'Arte di condividere" (“The Art of Sharing”).

Detailed information on the participant institutes, on the initiatives and on the opening times will be available soon on the websites www.beniculturali.it/GEP2018 and europeanheritagedays.com
