The Argory was built in the 1820s and its hillside location has wonderful views over the gardens and 320 acre wooded estate bordering the River Blackwater. This former home of the MacGeough–Bond family has a splendid stable yard with horse carriages, harness room, acetylene gas plant and laundry. Take a stroll around the delightful gardens or for the more energetic along the woodland and riverside way-marked trails.   Explore the courtyard, garden, woodland and riverside walks with wonderful sweeping views. Kids can enjoy the adventure playground which includes a zip-line. Relax in the Courtyard Coffee Shop with home baked produce featuring NT Cookbook recipes, including our ever popular scones and speciality sausage rolls.   Book onto a house tour and experience the 'Artificial Sunshine', maybe your last chance to view this as we expect our chandelier to be returned to the West Hall during October/November. Hear all about the neon structure and Mr Bonds love of modern art. Kids can take part in the modern art trail on the house tour and create their own masterpiece.  Visit on EHOD Saturday 14 September and enjoy the following:  guided tours of historic house; garden & estate walks; walled garden; argory shop; courtyard coffee chop; natural play area; suitable for picnics; country walk; access for visitors with disability; mobililty scooter available on site; great family day out; kids outdoor trail; second hand book shop; dogs welcome on leads in grounds/garden only.
