Im Jahr 1504 eroberte Maximilian I. die Festung Kufstein mit den mächtigsten Waffen seiner Zeit. Anlässlich des Maximilianjahres 2019 konnte das Institut für Archäologie der Universität Innsbruck am Zeller Berg nicht nur die Reste einer Geschützstellung aus dieser Zeit entdecken, sondern als wissenschaftliche Sensation auch das hervorragend erhaltene Tiefgeschoß eines mächtigen Wehrturms (um 1600). Der rautenförmig angelegte Bau stellt einen einmaligen Befund im Tiroler Raum dar. In einer Wanderung werden die verschiedenen Stationen am Zeller Berg besucht und vorgestellt.
