Opening of the European Heritage Days’19 events in Klaipeda.
4.30 pm – 4.40 pm Greetings to the participants and wishes.
4.40 pm – 4.45 pm. The ignition of the symbolic gas torch and the solemn raising of the flag of the European Heritage Days. The flag is a sacred sign that unites both pious and nations underneath. The flag will be raised on the restored former flagpole which once marked the boundaries of Klaipėda (Memel) city as a gateway to an open and free city. By raising the flag of the European Heritage Days’19, Klaipeda announces its aspirations and unity to preserve its cultural heritage as part of Europe. The abandoned buildings, which have been in existence for many years, are entering a new important phase – being revived for a new life.
4.45 pm – 5.30 pm. A brief tour of the Gas Works restoration works and results. Following the ceremonial flag-raising, the current gas factory managers will invite to inspect the restored buildings.
Organizer and more information: Klaipėda City Municipality. Chief specialist of Heritage Protection Division Ieva Palubinskaitė, phone: +370 463 960 68, email: email@example.com.
