Overview

The project "Kulturnaut in your neighborhood" is intended for the pupils of elementary schools and it represents a cultural and educational activity of entertaining character. Networking ,learning and thinking about cultural heritage is designed to contribute to the development of kids' creativity and the development of awareness of the importance of preserving cultural heritage. The participating pupils have the opportunity to record, display and talk about their own neighborhood, what it means to them and what cultural heritage represents for them, by using new digital technologies.

What is your favorite place in your neighborhood? Where do you usually hang out with your friends after school? Is it a special place only because of your friends or is it significant for some other reasons also? Do you have a cultural heritage spot that is equally important to you and how would you feel if it disappeared? These are some of the questions that elementary school kids addressed while also recording two short videos, one about their own favorite place and the other about cultural heritage. The goal is to create space for kids to learn and think more about their neighborhood and everything that surrounds them, places they grew up and places that have special value for them, what would be if there were not some buildings they loved and to which they were accustomed. Besides, with reflections on the cultural heritage in their neighborhood, the pupils had the opportunity to make parallels - to and highlight what distinguishes theirs from other places, and what y the similarities are. In this way, they realized the importance of cultural heritage and why it is important to preserve it for present and future generations. The idea is that school kids present their famous spots, and at the same time to have fun and develop their creativity and rhetoric. Also, through social networking they had the opportunity to get to know neighborhoods of other participating schools in the project. By assuming active role in the project to present their favorite places, they become actors instead of just observers and by using new technologies creators and authors of their videos and stories instead of "consumers". .

European Dimension

European heritage are universal in the whole Europe. I believe that in Europe we are more connected, custom , food, heritage, music, the way of living is the similar. If people have opportunity to travel more, to collaborate more, they will see that we all should protect, respect and cherish heritage in the same way.
