Overview

The Mancomunidad Taula del Sénia has participated in the EHD for the past 4 years. The philosophy of the Days is to disclose the unknown and forgotten heritage that is part of our history. For this, it is important to know and preserve this heritage in order to convey its values to the future generations. Nowadays, the Days have already been consolidated within the territory and the participation has increased spectacularly.

The Mancomunidad Taula del Sénia, together with councils, people and entities from the territory, has participated in the European Heritage Days for the past 4 years. These Days take place between September and November and many activities are organised: itineraries on foot, by bicycle or car, guided visits, lectures, conferences, workshops, exhibitions or educational activities.
The philosophy of the Days is to disclose the unknown and forgotten heritage that takes part of our history. Therefore, this heritage needs to be known and preserved in order to convey its values to the future generations. The Days have already been consolidated within the territory and the participation has increased spectacularly.
Themes of the Days:
2014 Natural heritage (8 activities and 170 participants)
2015 Industrial heritage (20 activities and 671 participants)
2016 Heritage of everyone: trees with history (29 activities and 1538 participants)
2017 Heritage and territory: rural architecture (45 activities and 2199 participants)
In 2017 we can highlight the activity performed in Castell de Cabres which is the smallest municipality in the Valencian Community. The activity brought together 88 people who went through a path of 6 km that was the same that children used to walk to arrive to school in the seventies. During the itinerary some childhood memories were related, so the interest of the participants was captured, especially the smallest ones.

European Dimension

They are organised in cooperation with the 27 municipalities members of the Mancomunidad.  Associations, schools, entities and people in the whole territory cooperate as well.
Their aim is to revitalize the culture of the territory by preserving its properties to convey and interpret them with creativity. This fact will lead to adopt new approaches that could reach the maximum number of people.
The events are designed in order to disclose and revalue the heritage resources that are hardly known. In all cases, the local community approve and participate in the activities to perform them properly.
They promote the culture, local products and new economic activities that help by creating jobs and slowing down depopulation.
Particularly, they have focused on the natural heritage (ancient olive trees) and the industrial, popular and rural architecture. Likewise, heritage, history and culture are concepts that are always linked and combined in all the events.
The activities always follow the sustainability criteria in terms of environment, society and economy.
They have been organised without any external economic help thanks to the cooperation and the volunteer work of the councils, associations and people from the territory.
There was particular focus on the youngest people so lectures and a literary contest have been performed in school centres.
All the events are promoted through our website and social networks in order to give a broader scope.
