The Castle of Ostin resuscitates thanks to the musical educational institution which undertook a new original reassignment.  For 34 years, each summer, Ostin has been bringing young Europeans together for Musical holidays. Writings and exhibitions allow the public to enjoy European heritage and put his footsteps in those of the travelers of the centuries and of Europe in Ostin: from Bernard Clairvaux to the Resistance and defenders of democracy during the 40-45 conflict , artists, writers ...

A few hundred meters from the international route Eurovelo 5 or Via Romea Francigena, the Grande Allée d'Ostin, leading to Ostin Castle, has always been home to prominent passengers from centuries and from Europe.
Bernard of Clairvaux stayed in Ostin in 1147, organizing the 2nd crusade, having created the abbey of Villers-la-Ville the year before.
The monks of this abbey, were owners of the agricultural domain until 1548.
Marshal Villeroy at the head of the armies of Louis XIV was defeated by the King of England William III, himself at the maneuver from his headquarters Ostin.
The Italian stuccoers Moretti, the Dutch landscape gardener J. D. Zocher, the agronomist Mertens marke the place.
The Resistance worked from Ostin. Count Capelle, private secretary of Leopold III, installed in Ostin the headquarters of the A.S. Zone IV. Arrested by the Gestapo, no one of these shadow heroes returned from the galleys.
Today, in the footsteps of the pilgrims of the Middle Ages, artists, musicians, poets ... of great renown, such as André Schmitz, Arthur Haulot, George Sion, Hugues Boucher, looked for inspiration.

Today, the castle tries to resuscitate thanks to the musical educational institution which undertook ta new original reassignment and a patient and enlightened restoration. For 34 years, every summer, the Château d'Ostin has been welcoming children of all musical levels and all countries for the "Musical Holidays" and its "Ostinato" Method.

The story of the opening of the Castle of Ostin * aims to:
- to share with all publics (and more particularly to transmit to young people) the defense and the reallocation of the built, cultural and historical heritage in a place of heritage. "Restoring the built heritage also means restoring its history".
- to promote (for 34 years) the meeting and the musical practice of young people of all levels, all instruments and all countries thanks to the “Music holidays” and its "Ostinato" Method,
- to perpetuate the memory of the martyrs of freedom for democracy in Europe,
- to (re) discover artists, writers and personalities who have highlighted Belgium and Europe (writings & exhibitions),
- invite visitors to put their footsteps in those of the Passengers of the centuries coming from Europe (Heralds and Heroes who have used the paths leading to the Castle of Ostin, from the Middle Ages to today through the heroic moments of the Resistance) thanks to the edition of a booklet telling the story of the great and the small history of Ostin.
