Launch of ‘Clare and its People’
Ennis Friary played a prominent role in the story of County Clare. In his new book Brian Dinan links the 13th century Gothic structure to Clare’s history. The book tells how the friary went from a monastic enclosure to a mausoleum for the Kings of Thomond, a civil building, a jail, a Protestant church and a graveyard. ‘Clare and its People’ also tells of mythical heroes, famous personalities and Clare’s Gaelic games and is possibly the most complete publication on Clare’s history currently available.
