Sir William Wilde and His Survey
Sir William Wilde (1815 –1876) was an eye and ear surgeon, a census assistant commissioner and has left lasting legacies on this country. For this presentation, it will focus on the brief profile of Sir William Wilde and especially on one of his many publications; On the Physical, Moral, and Social Condition of the Deaf and Dumb (1854). I will examine the context of this publication and perspectives on deaf people during his times.
