5 September 2021 (Online event 2pm to 4pm) DigiEvents DigiResources Scottish
Borders Unique in Scotland, this football stand is a Category A Listed iconic
modernist classic. It was constructed to the designs of the Architect Peter
Womersley and Structural Engineers ARUP in 1965. The stand uses shuttered
concrete to create a gravity-defying cantilevered canopy. The building is one
of a collection of celebrated modernist buildings by this design team in the
Scottish Borders. Digital Events Peter Womersley’s Concrete Modernism at Gala
Fairydean Rovers 05 September 2021 The Doors Open Days 2021 event will include
presentations by a range of experts on the history, current repairs and
potential future of the Stand. This would include a brief chronology of the
Stand and the changes to it over the years. A presentation of the current
repair project. A presentation on the potential future of the Stand. All
followed by a moderated discussion. Sunday 5th September 2pm-4pm Attend a
