Campus opened it’s doors to pupils in August 2020. It replaced the town’s
Grammar School and two primary schools and is an intergenerational community
campus. The award winning building was designed by Glasgow architects Stallan
Brand. It was designed to support modern learning, including moving away from
the traditional school model and focused on the accessibility, flexibility and
usefulness of the facility with spaces to better suit the needs of learners
and the community. It features large, open spaces designed for early learners
through to school leavers, helping to maximise learning opportunities. It also
provides a community facility directly benefiting local residents. The Campus
building was a winner at the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland
(RIAS) Architecture Awards 2022, and received a commendation at the Scottish
Borders Design Awards 2022. In June 2022, Scottish Borders Council was named
by RIAS as Client of the Year, in recognition of its role as client at JGC. If
you have not yet had a chance to visit the Campus, join us for a guided tour
led by young people and staff. See the learning spaces and hear about the
opportunities available to our young people as well as opportunities for wider
community involvement. There will also be an opportunity to learn how to use
the newly installed defibrillator. The event is hosted in partnership with
