Overview

24 September 2022 (12:00 - 13:00) Shetland In Person Join us in a celebration
of the remarkable everyday men and women who faced extraordinary times during
the world wars and gave their lives for their communities. During the tour you
will learn about the history of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and
about the heroic actions and self-sacrifice of some of our casualties buried
in the cemetery. There are 42 Commonwealth burials of the 1914-18 war here.
There are a further 74 of the 1939-45 war, including 2 unidentified sailors of
the Royal Navy and 1 unidentified seaman of the Merchant Navy. There are also
3 Norwegian war burials here. Meeting Point: The Cross of Sacrifice, inside
the top gate of Knab Road. Saturday, 24th Sepetmber, 12pm. There are hilly and
steep slopes on the tour. Please come dressed for the weather and in a
suitable walking shoe. Facilities WC Parking Limited Access
