Workshops, the former 1705 estate workshops for Broomhall, the seat of the
Earl of Elgin, were restored and converted in 2000 as the offices and training
centre for the Scottish Lime Centre Trust – an internationally recognised
Centre of Excellence for the conservation, repair & maintenance of traditional
buildings. For 25 years the Scottish Lime Centre Trust has promoted the
knowledge and traditional skills required for the conservation, repair and
maintenance of the historic built environment. We work nationally and
internationally to provide advice, guidance and traditional skills training
for anyone dealing with a historic structure, be it an A-listed castle or a
garden wall. LIME CENTRE ACTIVITIES Join us on Sunday, 19 September 2021,
10.00am-3.00pm The whole team at The Scottish Lime Centre Trust will be
welcoming you at Charlestown workshops in participation of this year's Fife
Doors Open Day We will have videos playing through out the day Our experts
tutors will be showing demonstrations of lime pointing, slaking quicklime,
limewashing and repairs to Sash & Case Windows. Kids and Kids at heart will
have moulds painting and word search activities too, so there's plenty to
