## The Role of the Jarlshof Site in Norse Archaeology – ONLINE EVENT
Located at the southern tip of Shetland, Jarlshof is the most famous site in
Scotland for the Viking and Late Norse period. From the earliest evidence on
site dating to the Neolithic, through the rest of prehistory until the arrival
of the Vikings, the multi-period settlement remains are impressive.
However the complexity of these superimposed buildings and the nature of the
early excavations has left a challenge for its interpretation at all periods.
Join Dr Colleen Batey to hear more on how excavations in 2004 have sought to
disentangle the rebuilding phases, their associated middens and develop a more
refined dating sequence.
