Overview

The Lime Museum in Morón has been participating in the European Heritage Days for several years, with extensive experience and a powerful team. In this edition we have prepared an interesting crossfrontier program in collaboration with our Portuguese neighbors, the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve (QRER -Cooperativa para o Desenvolvimento dos Territórios de Baixa Desensidade) and would like to invite any member state, sharing lime culture, to take part. The activity is based on lime paint or whitewash.

Objectives: To encourage and teach the youngest to conserve this Intangible Cultural Heritage declared by UNESCO in 2011 in its section on Good Practices, "Revitalization of traditional craftsmanship of lime". The special value of the project consists of revitalizing this living heritage, considered old and in disuse, making a commitment to preserve the historical memory and the associated cultural, industrial, and ethnological heritage. To make the youngest understand the principles of environmental sustainability inherent to this material and its use in modern buildings and especially in the restoration of our rich monumental heritage. To show the benefits of lime and its positive behavior in relation to the environment, effectively reducing emissions to the atmosphere and therefore improving quality of life. (Lime natural process of carbonation absorbs CO2 from the environment, cleans the air you breathe and is a product free of Volatile Organic Compounds that are toxic and carcinogenic substances).

European Dimension

We have planned two weekend workshops to be celebrated in Spain and Portugal.
