Scottish Archaeology Month
Doors Open Days

Dates: 4-26 September

SAM

Doors Open Days (DOD) events are run in different regions of Scotland each weekend in September offering free access to hundreds of fascinating sites, venues and activities not usually open to the public. DOD is co-ordinated by the Scottish Civic Trust.

Scottish Archaeology Month (SAM) promotes hundreds of events taking place all over Scotland. From the Shetland Islands to the Scottish Borders, there are free talks, tours, exhibitions, workshops and hands-on events to help you discover some of the amazing history, heritage and archaeology on your doorstep.

Together SAM and DOD, both supported by Historic Environment Scotland (HES), are Scotland’s contribution to European Heritage Days.
