The celebrations of “Heritage and Nature” are still in full swing, but European Heritage Days national coordinators are already preparing for 2018!

This year’s annual gathering of European Heritage Days representatives will take place between 17th and 19th October in Strasbourg, France, with the purpose of closing another exciting heritage year and setting the stage for new events in 2018.

Dozens of national coordinators, Council of Europe and European Commission representatives, as well as many guests will share their ideas and experiences to help make the next year’s events even more successful. European Heritage Days Assembly 2017 will be a milestone event in developing the theme and agenda for 2018, which will be a very special year for European heritage.

The meeting agenda will include a recap of the most inspiring European Heritage Days 2017 stories, highlights of remarkable local efforts, as well as a series of workshops and presentations dedicated to planning the future strategies. In addition to this, the themes of Heritage and Sustainable Development, as well as Heritage and Education will be addressed at separate panels to discuss how European Heritage Days can support initiatives in this respect.

An important focus will also be put on European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018, which will be one of the key motifs of next year’s European Heritage Days.

The programme will enable participants work together on developing new ideas and get inspired for implementing new strategies in their own countries. As in previous years, this will be the time to open up some new perspectives on the role of European Heritage Days in empowering local communities, rediscover its values for European societies, and to identify the best ways to bring heritage closer to new audiences.
