From claviers and harps that once resided in 18th century French salons, to various instruments of modern music, the Museum of Music of the Philharmonie de Paris keeps over 7,000 objects that witness the evolution of music in Europe. This rich collection represents one of the best ways to explore French heritage and learn about the history of music from 17th century to today.

During the 34th edition of European Heritage Days in France, Philharmonie de Paris will open the door to its Museum of Music free of charge and will engage music lovers in a series of interactive activities. The visitors will be able to explore the word of music by playing various instruments together, practicing to use their bodies as drums and to sing, or learning about the histories of clarinet and cello.

With the rich programme of workshops, educational sessions and guided tours, European Heritage Days at Philharmonie de Paris will make the history of music closer to both children and adults. It will help them uncover not only the sounds of France, but also musical traditions from all five continents, which are featured in a separate section of the Museum of Music. By presenting different eras in the history of music and examining the music dialogue between different regions, this exhibition is an extraordinary cultural journey.

As an important centre for instrument conservation and scientific research, as well as for educating the public on the history of music, Philharmonie de Paris offers an invaluable experience to all lovers of music. European Heritage Days at the institution will take place on 16th and 17th September and this will be an exciting weekend full of mesmerising tones, historic music sheets and music legends that illustrate the role that music has had in the development of European civilisation.
