22nd-23rd September 2018: The Art of Sharing Every year for two days in September, Italy celebrates the GEP - Giornate Europee del Patrimonio, in the frame of the programme "European Heritage days" promoted since 1991 by the European Council and the European Commission. The aim is of emphasizing the central role of cultural heritage in Italian society and involving communities in its participation. The festival is coordinated by Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities. State cultural places take part in the project together with numerous non-state museums, municipalities, galleries, foundations and private associations, providing an extremely varied cultural offering, with a calendar that reaches more than a thousand events. Actually, the “Giornate Europee del Patrimonio” are a remarkable choral event giving an image of the widespread wealth and the diversity of Italian cultural heritage: from the most famous museums and sites until lesser-known hidden treasures, places across the Country will open their doors day and night. Their common aim is to celebrate history and cultural identity strengthening the link with respective territories, traditions and communities. The 2018 European Heritage Days edition will be celebrated in Italy, on 22nd and 23rd September, in the context of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018. The activities will be developed on the theme "L'Arte di condividere" (“The Art of Sharing”).
