Partilhar Memórias - Sharing Memories

Theme for 2019: To be announced

Theme for 2018: "Sharing Memories” Partilhar Memórias Dates: 28, 29, 30 September Joining the common theme to different countries, Portugal celebrates the 2018 European Heritage Days under the theme "Sharing Memories”. In the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 we propose to explore the sharing of memories as a factor of citizenship, dignity and democracy. Continually reliving memory is fundamental so that the past is not forgotten, because it enables us to update impressions and information, thereby eternalizing history in our consciousness and transmitting it from generation to generation. Sharing memories across different generations, different communities and different countries contributes to building a more enlightened, more tolerant and better world. The aim of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 and the European Heritage Days is to encourage more and more people to discover and become involved with Europe's cultural heritage and to strengthen a sense of belonging to a common European area. The national program of activities clearly expresses each year the principles and objectives of the Council of Europe, reflecting in the same way the concepts underlying the themes chosen by the Directorate-General for Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture in Portugal. In addition to visits, meetings and exhibitions, there are many other initiatives that can be explored and that can contribute to involving the communities, and leading people to appreciate and preserve our heritage as a dynamic and forward-looking reality. Understanding the past, and cultivating it, allows us to prepare and design the future. Once again, the Directorate General for Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture has invited the civil society and official and private entities to organize activities around this theme for the 28, 29 and 30 September.
