Portugal will celebrate the 2020 European Heritage Days on 25th, 26th and 27th September, with the pan-European theme of Heritage and Education.

European Heritage Days in Portugal

Education has always been one of the fundamental pillars in the celebration of the European Heritage Days. It has also inspired many of the events that are organised every year. We want the EHD to leave a legacy that shows the potential of heritage as a tool for learning and as an inspiration for the future.

This year's theme aims to raise people’s awareness, regardless of their age, to the role of heritage in education and to the role of heritage education, to the wealth and complexity of this relationship - which is found in literature, arts, monuments, dance, theatre, landscape, games, museums, photography, archaeological sites or music, among many others. The relationship and importance of these two realities, the Heritage, in its different facets, and the Education, in its vast scope, are absolutely indispensable factors in the formation, consolidation and recovery of Identity, expressed at the most varied levels.
