A History of High School: Max Linder High School
The municipal council of the city of Libourne expresses the wish, on December 8, 1949, that the colleges of Libourne be transformed into high school. The college of boys (current Atget college), and that of young girls (former convent of the Recollets, today media library), not benefiting from a situation allowing to enlarge them, the municipality opts for a new construction. Jacques Carlu, architect of the Civil Buildings and the National Palaces, is designated by the Ministry of National Education on February 27, 1954 to direct the erection of new buildings including the day school and the boarding school of boys, and the transformation of the former boys' college into a female boarding school. Carlu provided all the final plans in 1956 after obtaining a favourable opinion from the Conseil Général des Bâtiments de France on the preliminary draft on 15 November 1955\\.
