Aberdeen Arts Centre
7 September 2025 (10:00 - 16:00)
Aberdeen Arts Centre is an independent arts venue and registered charity in the heart of Aberdeen. For over 60 years, it has played a crucial role in the north east’s vibrant arts scene through its programme of performances, Creative Learning Programme for children and adults, and an Artist Development Programme to support local professional creatives.
In May 2025, the centre launched the Save Aberdeen Arts Centre campaign – a three-year fundraising drive. Aberdeen Arts Centre – operated by Castlegate Arts – encompasses a 350-seater auditorium; café bar; flexible spaces for performances, events, exhibitions and meetings; and the Children’s Theatre, opened by Catherine Hollingworth in the 1950s as a pioneering youth theatre (the first of its kind in the UK) and now used as a vital resource for professional artist development.
You're invited to step beyond the curtain and discover how productions come together from behind the scenes. Guided tours will run on the hour (last tour 3pm) Raid the dressing-up box, get creative at the colouring-in station, and watch screenings of historic film footage that celebrates the centre’s (and Aberdeen’s) vibrant past.
Join creative learning facilitator Leah Christie for a special 45-minute craft and drama taster session for young people aged 8–15. Places are limited, so advance booking via the website is essential.
