Albert Hall Complex
An interesting complex, with 2,500 m2 dedicated to Art Deco. Designed in 1932 by architect Arthur Meuleman, the building housed a 1,148-seat cinema, the Albert Hall, and a superb function room, the Roseland. The two facades of the building, located at Chaussée de Wavre 649 and Avenue Eudore Pirmez 9 respectively, share the same architectural features: symmetrical composition of the bays, colossal pilasters with projecting heads and papyrus capitals, geometrically patterned wrought-iron railings and Orp-le-Grand yellow brick cladding. Close to today's concept of mixed-use spaces, the two rooms are superimposed and communicate from the inside. Wrought-iron balustrades, gilded stucco and monumental staircases complete the decor. In the main hall, two beautiful stained glass windows depict Charlie Chaplin and Virginia Cherril in "City Lights". Following a thorough renovation, the Albert Hall Complex now hosts cultural events, private receptions, seminars and exhibitions.
