Allan’s Primary School Bastion
Overview

The Old Town Wall is constructed directly onto the rock which, in many places, is only just below the ground surface. Three gun loops are visible from the south side of the wall. It was converted from a gunpowder store into a Doocot in the 1700’s and was renovated in 2003. Pupil of Allan's Primary School will be leading short tours of the building. The Bastion is accesses from the Spittal Street pedestrian gateway. There are a number of stairs to access the rear playground, where the bastion is situated on the Old Town Wall.
