Amateur Radio Demonstration of Worldwide Contacts
The North Dublin Radio Club, who recently celebrated our 50th Anniversary, will demonstrate to the public the ability to have contacts with the International Space station and other Amateur radio Satellites and celebrate Irelands heritage in the development of radio communications.
Ireland's heritage of radio experimentation, invention and innovation goes back to Le DeForest and Marconi. This year will mark the 100th anniversary of The IARU foundation, in Paris April 1925, of which Ireland was a founder member.
The International Radio Union regulates the world-wide allocation of radio frequencies for every country. Amateur radio is the only hobby regulated by International Treaty.
Where natural disasters occur in the world, the skills of licenced amateur radio operators are called into service where local utility services are destroyed. Most of our equipment is designed to be operated in a portable manner. We seek and welcome the opportunity and challenge to setup a highly professional radio communication stations in the most unlikely locations.
The members of North Dublin Radio Club will demonstrate to the public and celebrate Irelands heritage in the development of radio communications and bring the world of connections to Fingal and Ardgillan Castle.
