Archive readings: voice from here, story from yesterday (lecture - projection _ read aloud)
On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, an original archival reading entitled "Voices from here, stories from yesterday" will be offered by the archives department of the Town hall of Buis-les-Baronnies to the public. This event will highlight thirteen unpublished stories, written between the seventeenth and twentieth century by inhabitants of Le Buis, through letters, diaries, memoirs or poems. Singular voices, forgotten or unknown, that return today to inhabit our collective memory. From the last Huguenot attack reported by the priest Hercule Girard to the childhood memories of Pierre Bourdelon, passing through the words of a farmer, a sericultor, a sculptor, soldiers, schoolchildren or prisoners of war, this anthology of archives reveals the richness of a living heritage. One crosses there Jean Joseph Coupon, sculptor whose work adorns the church of the Madeleine in Paris; Joseph Girot, teacher and observer of the climate; Henri Rivière, recognized painter and founder of the shadow theatre of the cabaret Le Chat Noir in Montmartre; or Frédéric Mistral, who addressed a letter in Provençal to the Catelan brothers, famous local prehistorians and contributors to the intellectual life of the region. These texts will be accompanied by old photographs and archival documents, offering a sensitive look, often moving or full of humor, on the language, the commitments and the daily life of ordinary women and men from Buis. Thanks to the voice of volunteer readers, these forgotten testimonies will come back to life during a public reading. The trip will continue at 4:00 PM, in the new cultural center (boulevard Eysseric - medieval tower) with the exceptional visit of René Lambert, 101 years old, precious witness of the Buis d'autrefois. He will share his memories of the businesses, the festivals, the inhabitants, and everything that shaped local life during the 20th century. An open meeting (within the limit of available places) to exchange, remember... and not forget. Informations Free of charge, as far as places are available Accessibility
