Art Deco, the Koekelberg and Molenbeek way
Overview
Art Deco and modernism shaped the urban landscape of the 1920s and 1930s on this side of the canal too. In Koekelberg, much of Rue Seghers was designed by architect Fernand Lefever. On the Molenbeek side, the focus is more on workers, with social housing in the Van Hemelrijck, Diongre and Van Meulecom estates, among others. For the middle classes, apartment buildings or housing estates were on the urban planning agenda. In collaboration with Bruxelles Bavard.
