Athenry Walled Towns Day is a free family fun day which showcases the influences of the Anglo-Normans in the best preserved medieval town in Ireland. The programme of events which is curated by the Athenry Heritage Centre and the Heritage Officer of Galway County Council includes battle reenactments, arts & crafts displays, displays of armour and weaponry, performances by Galway Early Music and Carmel Dempsey ensemble, birds of prey displays, children's fun workshops, have a go archery, a medieval photo-booth, walking tours of Athenry and much much more. Walled Towns Day is a free event which is accessible and inclusive for all ages and abilities to enjoy.
