Overview

The BELvue Museum is based in the former Bellevue hotel, in an extension to the Royal Palace of Brussels. It forms part of the vast neoclassical complex built around Place Royale/Koningsplein and the nearby park under the supervision of French architect Barnabé Guimard, between 1776 and 1782. The BELvue Museum lets you discover today’s Belgium and its history through seven themes: democracy, prosperity, solidarity, pluralism, migration, language and Europe. Have a look at the gallery too: there are more than 200 Belgian objects to view, each one forming a tangible memory of Belgium. The very essence of Belgian-ness! Located in the heart of Brussels, the BELvue is much more than just a museum about Belgium and its history. As a center for democracy, the BELvue also aims to foster the development of historical awareness. It is a place to experience history and democracy. The BELvue is managed by the King Baudouin Foundation.
