Overview

The National Print Museum is a living museum, where visitors are encouraged to roll up their sleeves and partake in the craft and stories of letterpress printing. Maintaining all our printing presses and typesetting machines in full working order allows us to not only preserve the objects themselves, but to also celebrate and safeguard the intergenerational knowledge and skills essential to telling the story of printing in Ireland and the wider world. Join us for a talk that will explore some of the journeys these printing presses have made from the shop floors of busy printing houses, to fully operational artefacts in the Museum space. In 2024 the National Print Museum has embarked on a project, generously supported by the Heritage Council, that will facilitate greater access and discovery to the wider public of this unique working collection. Due to the constraints of space in the Museum, only 30% of the collection can be on display at any one time. This talk will highlight some of the collection gems that are currently in storage. Places limited, booking required. This talk will be conducted on the ground floor, where visitors will also find the Reception, Museum Shop, permanent exhibition, toilets, and Café. The ground floor is fully accessible to wheelchair users. Entry for wheelchairs is via the Café. The Museum welcomes guide and service dogs.
