This is a new venue for 2025.
Books Abroad is a charity which recycles good quality donated books from schools, colleges, libraries, etc and redistributes them to educational establishments worldwide in response to specific requests for support.
The books are a valuable resource in these countries improving literacy and providing education which in turn helps to alleviate poverty.
At the warehouse in Rhynie the books are sorted, selected and packaged by volunteers and palleted in preparation for a container to be filled and shipped to its destination.
Recycling these books gives them a useful second life and reduces landfill.
During Doors Open Days Come to Rhynie and see Behind the Scenes at Books Abroad.
The warehouse will be open and volunteers available to explain how the donated books are sorted, selected and packaged.
Book donations are welcome on the day – see the website for appropriate books required.
Also an opportunity to view the many books on more specialised genres unsuitable for the overseas projects but available over the weekend for a small donation.
