Overview

A free public talk on the question of 'Currachs or Coracles' will be given by Claidhbh Ó Gibne in the Martello room in the Governor’s House at Millmount Museum. The talk will provide insights on the origins of the terms coracle and currach, and the UNESCO recognition, as well as a discussion on shared heritage between Ireland and Wales. All welcome to this free event - spaces limited so be on time! This event received funding through a joint initiative by the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport and the National Monuments Service to support practices inscribed on Ireland’s National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage. Ireland’s National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage is managed by the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport and can be viewed at https://nationalinventoryich.ccs.gov.ie/. The National Monuments Service is delighted to support this initiative that highlights the strong relationship between tangible and intangible heritage.
