Overview

Cén madra a chuaigh trí Bhearna an Mhadra agus cé a chrochadh ag Cloch an Oidhre?

Faigh freagra ar na ceisteanna seo ag an ócáid “Cad as Duit? Placenames of the Déise” i Leabharlann Dhún Garbhán. Buail isteach i gcomhair bhlaiseadh d’oidhreacht logainmneacha Phort Láirge trí amhráintí, dhánta agus chainteanna gairide. Sé príomh-mhír chlár na hoíche ná an chéad léiriú poiblí dhán nua-scríofa ar Logainmneacha na nDéise (coimisiúnaithe le tacaíocht ó Éire Ildánach Phort Láirge) ón bhfile ón Rinn, Catherine Foley, maraon le físeán tionlacain léirithe aici féin agus a deirfiúr RoseAnn.

Which dog passed through Bearna an Mhadra (the Dog’s Gap) in the Comeraghs and who was hanged at Cloch an Oidhre (the Heir’s Stone) along the Ardmore Coast?

If you are interested in the answers to questions like these, come along and join us in Dungarvan Library for the “Where are you from? Placenames of the Déise” event, organised by Waterford City & County Council’s Placenames Committee. You are invited to drop in to Dungarvan Library at any time between 6.30pm and 7.30pm for a taste of Waterford’s placename heritage through a mixture of songs, poems and short talks. The main feature of the event will be the first public performance of a newly written specially commissioned poem (funded by Creative Waterford) on the Placenames of the Déise by An Rinn poet Catherine Foley, as well as an accompanying video produced by Catherine and RoseAnn Foley.
