13 September 2025 (11:00 - 16:00) 14 September 2025 (11:00 - 16:00) Kirriemuir Camera Obscura, one of only three in Scotland, is housed in a purpose-designed turret room in the Barrie Cricket Pavilion on Kirrie Hill, which was gifted to the town of Kirriemuir by Sir JM Barrie in 1930. It provides a fascinating glimpse of historic technology and striking 360° views of the surrounding countryside. The Camera Obscura works best on bright sunny days so there will be times when the view will not be at its best due to weather conditions. Volunteer guides will explain how it works and what you see and tell the story of this historic building and of James Matthew Barrie, author of Peter Pan and other novels. Café Obscura is located on the ground floor of the Pavilion and serves teas and freshly ground coffee, filled rolls, scones, cakes etc. as well as a selection of sweets and cold drinks. Booking is not required. Whilst the camera room is not accessible to wheelchairs, Café Obscura is wheelchair accessible and there is a video of the camera table on show.
