Overview

The Colgan Heritage Committee, will host several events under the title “Carndonagh: Communication and Heritage down the years’
Saturday 17th August 2024.
An exhibition and book sale will be open to the public 1pm to 7pm.
1pm. Exhibition.
The main exhibition will be a revisit to the 1937 National School collection of essays ,and also photographs for Carndonagh Parish.
This was a very popular and well attended event when first staged in 2011. The variety of folklore, history and heritage contained in these essays is outstanding.
At the time some of the members of those who had written the essays as school children were invited to the hall and presented with a souvenir of the day, by the committee.
Book Sale.
The book sale will consist of a range of books including antiquarian, local history and general interest. Proceeds will be used to promote the work of Colgan Heritage.
6pm. Talks and readings.
There will be a presentation and readings from the 1937 essay collection, followed by a discussion.
7pm.
Wine reception.
Sunday 18th August 2024.
10.30am.
There will be a guided tour of an area of local interest, commencing at 10.30am, followed by refreshments in the Colgan Hall.
A bus will be leaving from the Colgan Hall, at a cost of 5 euro per person.
Please bring rainwear and sturdy footwear in case of inclement weather.
12.30 to 4pm.
The exhibition and book sale will continue.
