Castlebrae Business Centre
27 September 2025 (10:00 - 16:00)
Castlebrae Business Centre is a striking Category B listed building that originally opened its doors in 1943 as Niddrie Marischal Secondary School. In 1995, the Craigmillar Opportunities Trust transformed the former school into a centre for training local people in employment skills and supporting local start-ups — part of a wider initiative to drive economic growth and regeneration in the area.
In 2000, the Craigmillar Opportunities Trust rebranded as Create and achieved Local Enterprise status three years later. Nearly three decades on, the original mission of empowering and supporting local businesses remains deeply rooted in the fabric of our building. Today, Castlebrae is home to a diverse community of businesses — from early-stage start-ups to well-established organisations — all playing a vital role in strengthening the local economy.
