Overview

The Association Mémoire Patrimoine de Clohars-Carnoët invites you to an educational visit open to all. It offers you an immersion in a Franco-American allied camp located on the historic site of the Pouldu Blockhouse. This reenactment is part of the commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of the Poche de Lorient, in collaboration with the Association for the Reconstitution of the Poche de Lorient de Rédéné (ARPL). This camp will highlight the role of allied forces, particularly American, in the liberation of Brittany during the Second World War. The Breton resistance, the battles of the Lorient Pocket and the Front of Laita will also be discussed. Information panels, historical objects, weapons and uniforms will allow an autonomous visit of the Blockhaus du Pouldu. Built for the Atlantic Wall, the 'Blockhaus du Pouldu' was reused by American troops, then by the French fighters of the Front de La Laïta during the period of the Lorient Pocket (August 10, 1944 – May 10, 1945), serving in particular as a shelter against the bombardments of the German artillery of Guidel or Groix. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsh8-U_e-mU&ab_channel=GilVanMeeuwen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=al0TCF6PG8o&ab_channel=GilVanMeeuwen
