Overview
🌿 Discovering a water mill in the Barguillère valley
Come visit this small water mill, rehabilitated by a local association and in operation since 2003. Located at the heart of a 19 km pedestrian network, this mill produces flour according to traditional methods. Built in dry schist stone, it is typical of the architecture of the valley and was rebuilt by the inhabitants of nearby hamlets, who once had the right to use it free of charge. Access on foot from the parking of Matthieu via a botanical trail marked with illustrated trilingual signs. You will discover the plants used in the past to feed and heal, as well as local animal species, from the most common to the rarest, such as the Pyrenean desman, discreet inhabitant of these preserved environments. Signs also evoke the life of the former inhabitants of the valley and their passages at the mill. The visit ends with a demonstration of the operation of the mill. Informations Rate: 2 € per adult, 1 € per child aged 6-12 years, free for children under 6 years. Without reservation.
