Overview

The lighthouse(headlight) of Chassiron, 46 metres high, is an emblematic place of the Ile d'Oléron. Put into service on December 1st, 1836, he(it) serves as guide in sailors at the entrance(admission) of Pertuis of Antioch. Visible up to 35 km, of day, thanks to its black and white bands(strips), and up to 52 km night thanks to its bright code (1 brightness every 10 seconds). The lighthouse(headlight) allows to discover the North of the island and its practices of peaches across its museum route(course) show and the rise(ascent) of walking(steps) (224). In its feet, a circular garden in the shape of wind rose redraws the agricultural and maritime history(story) of the island through plant beds, through kitchen gardens or else pedagogic tools.
