Overview
From Lied to Rock
Classical and popular music: Schubert, Cavanna and Ligeti
Schubert composed more than 600 Lieder mixing romantic quest, solitude, memories, happiness and travel, oscillating between popular and romantic inspiration. Bernard Cavanna offers an original transcription with accordion, reviving the imaginary popular origin of the Volkslied. This choice, enriched with strings, creates a refined and varied sound palette. The accordion, which appeared shortly after Schubert’s death, finds a central place here. The program also includes the piece Hungarian Rock of Ligeti, brilliantly transcribed for accordion by Rémi Briffault. Program: Franz Schubert (1797-1828) Das Hannah, Die junge Nun |Bernard Cavanna (1951) 1 movement of Trio | Franz Schubert (1797-1828) Gretchen am Spinnrade, Heidenröslein | György Ligeti (1923-2006) Hungarian Rock for accordion |Franz Schubert (1797-1828) Ständchen | Bernard Cavanna (1951) 2 movements of Trio | Franz Schubert (1797-1828) Erlkönig Distribution: Gaëlle Mechaly, Soprano | Noëmi Schindler, Violin | Florian Lauridon, Cello | Rémi Briffault, Accordion
