Overview

On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, come and attend the concert "Enfants de quarries", Sunday 21 September at 5 PM at the church of Saint-Germain-de-Métron. At the end of the 19th century, a hundred workers worked in the nearby quarries of Saint-Germain-de-Métron which then saw its population increase. Spindlers, cobblers, stonecutters, diggers and labourers, many of whom were foreigners, shared the work. The quarries provided cobblestones for the roads of Burgundy, curbstones, troughs, chimney lintels. When the children went to school on foot, they had time to chat and talk about their parents' work. Let’s meet them on the path and live again some moments of this difficult life in the time of careers. Anecdotes, varied music and traditional songs will take you back to that time when the Morvan provided many jobs. The viols and cello of Évelyne Peudon, the flute and the voice of Anne Sylvestre will illustrate a text by André Beuchot written with the help of villagers who should be warmly thanked before starting. Informations Reservation recommended but not mandatory | Open participation | Sale of programs.
