During a walk: «Wild plants!»
The space Mendès France owes its origin to researchers of the university of Poitiers, activists of popularisation, who went, in 1980s, to the meeting of the inhabitants to districts, to discuss scientific subjects and to show, supporting "manipulation", that science could be accessible(approachable), or even heartening. Located at the heart of the city, the centre of scientific and technical culture of Poitiers posts(shows) three missions aimed at(bound for) all public: popularise research(search) and its jobs(businesses), educate in sciences and in techniques, maintain debates on social and cultural stakes. Both in themes and in words, it is the diversity which characterises the activities of the centre. Temporary exhibitions(exposures) cover a wide field: the scientific police, sustainable development, evolution, etc. Often play scientific animations address the youngest without forgetting others. The school of the DNA is a space of introduction, of information and of debate on the development of life sciences. Questions touching health, astronomy, technologies of information, bioethics are also very coherent. In history of science, he(it) developed an unique(only) centre of excellence in France. The Cultural multimedia space is in itself a small galaxy where revolve teachers and creators, regularly requested to conceive(design) interactive and atypical artistic interventions. The establishment is managed by an association of typical law 1901: the House of sciences and techniques, the volunteers are particularly invested(surrounded) within the association which benefits so from a real voluntary sector.
