Meeting with the artist-traveler Emmanuel Michel
The Museum of the Country Châtillonnais - treasure of Vix, located in Châtillon-sur-Seine, is an inescapable(major) stage on the road of the Celts. The major component, the famous bronze vase of Vix (the VIth century av(avenue). J.-C.), in exceptional dimensions(size) (1.64 m of top), a still unequalled evidence of antiquity this day is. It was in a female grave, discovered in January, 1953 at the foot of the mount Lassois. This princely burial is the most prestigious of the end of the first Iron Age (towards 500 av(avenues). J.-C.) on the French territory. The lady de Vix was lengthened(stretched out) on a tank, adorned with precious jewels, among which a golden(in gold) torc, masterpiece of Celtic silver. You will be able to admire all these sumptuous objects to the museum. Many discoveries realised in Country Châtillonnais come to light in the course of rooms for a journey in history(story). Come discover thanksgiving plaque (statuettes presenting the sick members and the gratitude of healing to divinities) of Gallo-Roman sanctuaries; life and craft(home-made) practices of the Gallo-Roman town(conglomeration) of Vertault; the sculptor of the ancient then medieval time(period). People of culture and faces(figures) of Châtillonnais also participated in the enrichment of collections: engraved wood are a rare evidence of the popular art of the XVIIth century, the collection of the marshal Marmont present of remarkable decorations.
