Saint-Laurent-de-Centen is located in Haut Vallespir, in a small valley leading to the Tech valley. The Maison du Patrimoine et de la Mémoire André Abet occupies the premises of the former factory L'Union Sandalière, founded in 1923 by sandal workers. When it closed, the municipality wanted to preserve the memory of this activity by presenting to the public, in the premises of the factory, the machines and tools that were used for the manufacture of espadrilles, or the weaving of fabrics.
