Overview

The Saint-Denis de Sainte-Adresse church has a set of 19 remarkable stained glass windows that were made between 1877 and 1886 by three master glassmakers, Édouard Amédée Didron, Nicolas Lorin and Eugène Stanislas Audinot as well as an artist named Luc Olivier Merson. This is an integral set that has been the subject of special attention by specialists, both the quality of the lenses used, the choice of colors and iconography are refined and neat. Time has nevertheless left a mark on the whole, caused by malfunctions: the jointing of the stained glass windows on the building and the crowding of these which have caused multiple small breakages. Therefore, the European Heritage Days are a great opportunity to promote this heritage group to which the Dionysians are attached and well beyond borders. This major restoration project, proposed in the presence of the heads of the Heritage Foundation, a delegation of the Brotherhood of Anysetiers and various actors involved in the preservation of these essential elements of the communal heritage, located at the crossroads of history, architecture, culture and local religious life. A presentation time will present the device engaged by this expected restoration and will be followed by a conference given by Béatrice Chegaray, formerly President of the Diocesan Commission of Sacred Art who will share his expertise on the art and symbolism of stained glass. The morning will end with a chancel on the Merklin organ, in the heart of the Saint-Denis church, offering everyone a unique musical and heritage moment, celebrating the richness of our heritage and participating in its transmission to future generations. Informations Duration 2h.
