Desde el origen de la Humanidad el hombre ha alzado su mirada al cielo, estudiando y comprendiendo su funcionamiento.

Alzaron a los cielos a los dioses y a los demonios para intentar explicar los acontecimientos extraordinarios y desgracias, y creían lograr predecir en las estrellas el desenlace de ciertos acontecimientos.

Más adelante, lograron controlar y medir el tiempo a través del movimiento de los astros, facilitando las tareas agrícolas, arquitectónicas e incluso políticas

Con el tiempo, también lograron orientarse con ayuda de la posición de los astros, lo que supuso un gran avance en la navegación, impulsando así las diferentes rutas y la exploración.

Sin embargo, lo realmente hermoso del Firmamento es su observación; como dijo astrónomo alemán Johannes Kepler: “No nos preguntamos qué propósito útil hay en el canto de los pájaros, cantar es su deseo desde que fueron creados para cantar. Del mismo modo no debemos preguntarnos por qué la mente humana se preocupa por penetrar los secretos de los cielos. La diversidad de los fenómenos de la Naturaleza es tan grande y los tesoros que encierran los cielos tan ricos, precisamente para que la mente del hombre nunca se encuentre carente de su alimento básico.
