Connecting Labasheeda by Water
Co. Clare

Overview
This event is a journey back in time to explore the tradition of boating on the Shannon estuary. Labasheeda is a peninsula and before modern transportation methods, the people of the area used boats to cross the Shannon estuary to Co. Limerick and Co. Kerry to shop, trade and socialise. This was easier than travelling the primitive road structure to the nearest towns. The price of progress is that this boating tradition is now gone and we know less about our neighbours on the Limerick and Kerry side than we did sixty or seventy years ago. Two steps forward, one step back!
All are welcome to experience the quiet, rural and scenic village of Labasheeda on the Shannon estuary in Co. Clare.
