Overview

Glanworth Heritage Group will host an evening at Glanworth Community Hall on Friday 16th August 7pm. The theme for Heritage Week 2024 is connections, routes and networks. With this in mind, we have invited two local guests for a "fireside chat" to discuss the connections, routes and networks interwoven to their lives. Tommy Fitzgibbon will discuss his exploits as an ultra-marathon runner especially his great achievement of completing the Marathon de Sables. Mike Healy will talk us through how he went about tracing his family tree to create a priceless family history book, "The Healy Story". Not only will he recount interesting finds along the way, but he will also offer practical tips on getting started with your own family tree and signposting to useful resources. Audience participation is warmly welcomed. Teas and coffees will be served afterwards. We will also have questionnaires available on the night to help assist you in recording some of your own family history.
